Our goal is to enhance the professional performance and quality of life of University of Florida MBAs by nurturing a culture of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. As the business leaders of tomorrow, our priority should always be to cultivate a workplace exploding with success, both in our company’s function and in the welfare of our people. People who eat right and exercise regularly are more productive in their work and ultimately live happier lives. We lead from the front and encourage others to follow our example.
GatorFit will provide members with lasting information on how to get themselves into better shape as well as help others make the same transition. We will utilize expert speakers in the fields of kinesiology, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and nutrition to give members a broad scope view on what fitness looks like, as well as dispel popular misconceptions and “fad diets”. We will hold group fitness sessions that will reinforce the principles of teamwork and mental toughness while at the same time give people excellent physical training. We will encourage all members to set fitness goals, and after doing so set a realistic path to achieving victory. Finally, a task of GatorFit in its inaugural year is to put together a database of workouts that can be given to members to help them in their training and personal fitness well beyond their time as a University of Florida MBA.
Everyone is welcome because every MBA has the same expectations of living a healthy and productive life after graduation. Regardless of physical ability, athletic background or age, GatorFit is a club that welcomes all comers. Our members are enthusiastic, encouraging, and by for the greatest example of “go-getters” one could ever find.
Regular GatorFit Club meetings are hour-long fitness sessions that have been tried and tested by the club Officers. Types of sessions range from circuit training to runs, from strength to flexibility, and from original products to renowned workouts. We subscribe to the principle that a Swiss army knife is better than a well crafted fork; we’d rather be great at several areas of fitness than elite in a single area.
Annual events include:
- Turkey Trot (November)
- Christmas Extravaganza (December)
- GatorFit “Murph” Challenge benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project (March)
